Late News

In June we screened the enjoyable and moving film The Movie Teller. It was highly rated by most of

our attending audience. Our next screening is on Sat 19 July 25 when we will screen â€‹

two films Bread and Dripping,  at 7:00 pm and The New Boy, at 7:40 pm.

Bread and Dripping is a short film where four women recount their lives in Australia during the

economic depression of the 1930s. The film will be introduced by a special guest.

The New Boy is set in a remote mission for Aboriginal children in 1940s Australia, run by renegade nun

Sister Eileen (Cate Blanchett). When a new charge (Aswan Reid) is received late one night a struggle begins as

Sister Eileen deals with the differences between the mission's Christianity and the boy's

previous Indigenous spiritual life.

Directed by Warwick Thornton and starring Cate Blanchett and Aswan Reid.

Doors open at 6:00 pm for members and their guests to enjoy their BYO meals and drinks,

and to socialise before the film.
