Welcome to the Gundaroo Film Society—possibly Australia’s oldest film society, still running in the same venue since 1905.

All films are screened at the Gundaroo Soldiers’ Memorial Hall.

From rudimentary beginnings—projections from the back of trucks into the hall, and the odd outside showing—through to reel-to-reel projectors in a fireproof projection room, the society now boasts a high definition digital cinema projector, an electronic screen and a whole lot of new enthusiasm.

Joining us to become  a member will give you access to 18 films in 2018 for the cost of $65.00  per person.

As a member, you are entitled to invite three guests per year. Membership is open to all residents of Gundaroo and surrounding areas, including Canberra. Why not Join now!

The society plans a program of films for each year with screenings once a month on a Saturday night.

All of our movie nights, with the exception of November allow you to enjoy a BYO meal with your film.  Meals can be sourced from Gundaroo’s fine takeaway food establishments .

In November we hold a “Meal & Movie Night” to raise funds for the Gundaroo Hall. This night is run by the Hall committee and a host of volunteers, with tickets usually $35 per person for a tasty 2 or 3 course meal. Members who decide not to attend the meal are still encouraged to come along afterwards and enjoy the film. These major fundraisers help with the upkeep of the hall as well as with the ongoing associated costs for the digital equipment used by the Film Society.

The Gundaroo Film Society is a member of the NSW Federation of Film Societies, a member of the Australian Council of Film Societies.
